Well, Christmas is nearly here, though it never feels like it here. We have our twilight golf on Wednesday nights, long days, shorts and T-shirts and not an icicle to be seen, let alone a snowman (it doesn’t snow here in Tauranga in the winter either). So jingle bells and the smell of mulled wine and cinnamon are replaced by the sound of lawnmowers, and the smell of sausages sizzling on barbeques. Never mind.
We are off up to Auckland to see the Foo Fighters tomorrow (Arthur may be interested). It will probably be Christmas in Whakatane and then we’re off to Sydney for a couple of weeks. We’ll spend the first week about 3 hours down the coast and the second in Sydney. Annette has cousins over there so we will spend a week with each of two families, which should be great fun.
I’m guessing that REFOS may have a curry night around now. Hopefully Arthur is fully fit again, or well on the way.
I popped round to the Golf Club in Sunday to hit a few practice balls and Santa was out on the course. I was in shorts and t-shirt so I bet he was roasting his chestnuts. We are still debating a trip to the UK next year, but we’ll have to see how we go in the New Year. I will keep you posted.
I previously mentioned that Neil and Simon might join REFOS and since found out that Nick Sharp may have joined Royston too – a really good bloke and a good golfer too. Nick was a junior member there when I was way back, so he knows the course really well. I hope comes along for a game on a Saturday morning. It’s a shame that they waited until I’d gone before making the move.
So please wish the lads a very happy Christmas, and a merry New Year, and wrap up warm.
